SecGuru Announcement - Moderation Turned "ON"

Points: 164 views Comments: 2 Comments Tag:

As SecGuru is getting more famous, we recently noticed a spike in the number of spam/duplicate articles. We are sure our readers already get their overdose of viagra (etc..) in emails and rss feeds, so we will spare them from that on SecGuru. In order to maintain high quality, we will be now moderating all stories, forum topics and comments. This means that your contributions will be checked before they are posted to the site. SecGuru's content will be updated regularly throughout the day so there may be some delay before your contribution appears on the site.

Some of the things, which we would be doing as a part of moderation are :

  • If necessary, we might apply more precise categories and tags to user contributed stories.
  • If the contributed story is a duplicate (happens all the time during patch-tuesday's), we will append the new story as a comment to the already existing story.
  • One line comments like "Love your article", "Microsoft sucks" etc., which don't add any value to the post would be deleted.
  • Contributions that seek to endorse commercial products or activities or solicit business will not be accepted. Last week, we deleted couple of contributions made by a user to promote his/her security auditing service. In future if we detect someone spamming about their service or product, we will give 3 warnings before deleting their account.

Feel free to leave a comment here or provide us with more suggestions.

Thanks,

Forum Rules ...

While opening forums our primary aim was to create a place for users to post anything related to security. You can post questions related to networking , programming and other areas related to computing. SecGuru Management will do very little moderation in the forums, so feel free to post whatever you feel will benefit the community.

Most of the SecGuru viewers are having english as their browser locale, so if you post forum topics in other languages you may get less response from the readers.
