Check out TrueCrypt it will encrypt your entire hard drive, they will NEVER know you have pirated software unless you are stupid and use a simple password like "Pebbles" use something more like GeuW42Cf741~cP&a3Fa@ and they will never guess your password in a million years (dont use that one specifically thatd be stupid too) It will encrypt all data on your drive making it appear as scrambled nonsense under forensic tools.

There are no restrictions about downloading the whole MS system that runs in evaluation mode.
If you have a normal serial it's up to you to use it on the single computer that you want.
MS cannot say anything while you are PROMOTING their OS.
There are no public MS restrictions about the digital redistribution.
In any case MS have raised his empire thanks to the viral diffusion of it's OS via the "Warez" and to the preinstalled versions (expecially IBM at the beginning).
The installation is meant to be just the installation (in most cases) and the ACTIVATION of the product on the single machine (depending also if you have a multilicense or not).
The paid redistribution is not allowed, the redistribution via illegal sites is not allowed (warez sites), the usage of cracks and serials is not allowed, the normal Digital distribution of the evaluation copies is Legal!

MS is selling the activation of the product. That's also why when the genuine advantage identifies that you have an illegal copy tells you to Buy a serial to ACTIVATE your installation or if you want you can buy the complete pack or the single evaluation cd and the serial. They just don't tell you... where have you downloaded this copy? or Buy another copy.
The payment of the whole OS is considered on the activation not on the acquisition of a cd or package.

The things are quite clear... just buy the serial/activation.
If you cut down the base installed software on the OS it's not a MS problem if something is not working or if you cannot do the updates.
It's illegal to modify the OS and redistribute it, in this case TinyXP distribution is NOT Legal.
If you own an installation of tinyxp with an original serial number you are using legally Windows XP but (theorically) you cannot ask for support from MS except, I suppose, if you ask for premier support (more than $80 each hour).
With premier support you can ask also for modifications on MS Products to fit your needs.
Anyway nobody will ever request such things 8).

Just Install and be quiet if you have a serial. The legal problem is related to the persons that are distributing such modified OSs.
If you want a lookalike xp use a lightweight linux distribution with the MS Windows alike themes.

I own XP. It came with the PC, a Fujistsu Siemens Scaleo 800S.

On that base, I have the legal right on using ANY other Windows version, beit if I made it myself with nLite or if I use Tiny XP.

I like minature versions of xp like this.
Full versions you should pay and these versions should be free.

Try doing the same from CLI , in windows the command for managing your ethernet setting is ipconfig

If you're on dial-up, then get off of it and get at least some sort of broadband. It's not expensive nowadays. If not, then don't pirate. Don't expect anything faster than a couple of days on dial-up, buddy.

What you can try is make a shared network resource and try to boot from there ? I am not sure if this is possible, as i haven't tried it. Create a floppy disk which would allow network booting capability and then boot your laptop from this floppy. Once booted, it would ask you for network location for TinyXP. I think any unattended installation method for XP should also work for TinyXP
